Sleep Medicine

Sleep medicine physicians diagnose and provide therapy for sleep disturbances and disorders. Symptoms of a sleep disorder can often be subtle and include decreased energy, depression, or daytime sleepiness. However, the effects of an untreated sleep disorder can be very serious including heart problems, difficulty concentrating, irritability and pain sensitivity.

Sleep medicine specialists commonly diagnose and treat the following conditions:

  • Insomnia
  • Narcolepsy
  • Obstructive sleep apnea
  • Restless Legs Syndrome
  • Shift work sleep disorder
  • Sleep changes due to getting older

Sleep Studies

A sleep study is an all-night test using special equipment that gathers information about your sleep. Most patients can complete the sleep study at home using a small portable device. However, some patients will need to complete an in-lab sleep study in one of our comfortable private sleep lab rooms.
